Growth also judged to be on track.

Ghana's fiscal performance during the first half of 2011 was much better than in the same period last year, the International Monetary Fund said on Friday, after a staff mission visited the country.

The IMF said that Ghana had successfully managed to clear a sizeable amount or arrears and full-year fiscal targets were achievable so long as the government kept its expenditure under control.

The Fund also said that economic growth is expected to exceed 13 percent, supported by the start of oil production late last year and other sectors of the economy. To view the entire press release, please click here.
